October 2018 Schedule

This is essentially the namesake of our boat. It is a muffin with a green rosetta. If you are confused, see this article. I made the graphic a couple weeks ago to use on some boat business cards we had made up.

10/5    It's fleet week!  Fleet Week Official Site  Going out with Jane and Frank to watch the US Navy ships come in, Blue Angels airshow, etc. We are new to all this, so they are taking out their boat, we just bring food and wine.

10/6    Staying on the boat, but traveling by BART to the city to see some of the Fleet Week stuff.

10/7    If the bay is not too nutty from fleet week stuff, we might go out for a morning sail.

10/26    Nevada Day weekend starts Thursday evening. No special plans yet, perhaps sailing with Frank and Jane Friday.

10/27    No visitors or special plans yet.

10/28    No visitors or special plans yet. Heading home by 2PM.

Contact us if you want to join us for some sailing Nevada Day weekend.

A Full House

The whole gang aboard Green Rosetta for a week. In Nevada, a full house has a different meaning, but for a week in July, it was a house, well, a boat, full of people. Green Rosetta is set up to easily accommodate two couples, plus one more person on the bench in from of the table in the salon. This particular week we proved that seven people can be reasonably comfortable living aboard. Usually, Helga and I use the owner's cabin aft and the V berth in the bow is for guests. For the crowd, Helga and I moved out of the owner's cabin with its king size bed, and into the V berth that really is at capacity with two adults. L-R Anna, Ashley, David, Ian, and Austin The plan was to have Anna, David, and Ashley share the big bed and Austin and Ian would figure out who would get the salon couch and who would get the salon floor. Then Ian, who might have been destined for the salon floor, discovered the "hobbit hole", a sitting bench in the owner's cabin that is...

Canadian Invasion: Reinforcements

Foreground: Anna   Background: (L-R) Mary Beth, Barry, Pat (in shadow), David, Rena Ever since his first trip visiting Green Rosetta and sailing her, David has been talking about his sailing buddies, Pat and Barry. Pat has a sailboat on Wabamun Lake west of Edmonton, and Barry and David crew for Pat for racing events. Especially since David and Anna's summer trip when we didn't sail to Monterey in part because we weren't sure exactly how a coastal trip would unfold, it being our first coastal cruise on Green Rosetta , David has been suggesting getting to know these two guys who would enjoy sailing these waters on Green Rosetta.  His thoughts are maybe they could come along on some of our yet-to-be early adventures, covering a possible manpower and experience hole. We planned this weekend as an easy "get acquainted" event. To be fair with the title of this post, neither Pat and Rena nor Barry and Mary Beth are Canadian. They are US citizens who just happen t...
